Xavier always knew his true home was the seas

> DESCRIPTION

APPEARANCE

Xavier appears to be a young man with a large amount of scars littered all over his body. He wears an open red coat, red bandana, plain trousers, and buckled boots. He's usually seen wearing bandages around his torso to bind his breasts but he doesn't wear them all the time. His hair is an inky black-indigo colour and is long enough to be tied in a loose ponytail. His ears are slightly pointed.

The eye under his eyepatch is scarred and blinded. Many of his accessories are made of gold, such as any necklaces, earrings, or rings he wears. His canines have been replaced with gold fangs after they were forcefully pulled out in his youth.

Xavier is half-siren with the ability to shift between a human looking form and something more akin to his heritage.

While in his 'true' form, he has sharp bird-like talons instead of feet, his fingernails are more like claws, and feathers protrude from his arms and tailbone to be something akin to wings and a tail. Being only half-siren instead of full-blooded, he can't fly, but he can glide a fair distance and use his wings to asist with swimming underwater.

The feathers of this form match his hair, which is a dark inky black-indigo colour.

BACKSTORY

Xavier was originally born Elizabeth Whitecastle, daughter to a very wealthy merchant family. As a daughter he never fit his family's expectations and the final straw was their attempt at arranging to have him married to the son of another rich family to 'strengthen their business relationship'.

He ran away, stowing away on the first ship that was due to leave the docks of the town he lived in. His family was looking for a long haired woman so it was easy to hide after cutting his hair short and dressing in his preffered masculine style.

The ship Xavier had stowed away on was actually a pirate ship known as the Wavebreaker. The crew didn't take too kindly to a stowaway at first. But the Captain took a liking to him and allowed him to stay.

He did know a few things about ships simply from growing up around a dockyard, but it took him some time to fully gain the hands on experience he needed to be a true sailor with the crew.

It was during his time at sea that he realised that something wasn't quite 'right' about him. He could sing songs or melodies that enchanted people far more than a typical song should, finding feathers in places they shouldn't grow. The crew of the Wavebreaker eventually helped him come to the conclusion that he must be part siren; the deadly bird-women that sang sailors to their deaths.

It certainly explained a few things as to why his mother held him to a far higher standard than his siblings, if it turned out his father had bedded a siren.

Eventually Xavier broke off and formed his own crew, stealing a ship directly from under the nose of a rich merchant and rebranding it as his own; The Black Baron.

PERSONALITY

Xavier is the captain of the Black Baron; a notorious pirate ship that has never been caught. No one knows why this ship and its crew seem untouchable but many tell stories about how one moment they were there within their grasp and the next moment they were miles ahead on the open ocean. He cares for the crew he deems worthy enough to be on board his ship and will protect them fiercely.

He's very cocky and brash, extremely confident with his abilities, and able to bluff his way out if it ends up being beyond such abilities. He knows what he wants and will doggedly chase it until he has it or grows bored.

He also has quite a vengeful streak. If someone has wronged him or those he cares about then Xavier will not hesitate to follow his creed of 'an eye for an eye'.

The Captain rarely shows any sign of weakness, often taking to being alone if he feels low or vulnerable rather than stick around in large groups. He rarely outwardly expresses sadness, disguising it with a show of apathy.
